Hahn![]() Contact information: shahn@med.miami.edu Assistant: Dori McLean 1501 NW 10th Ave. Miami, FL 33136 ph: 305-243-8779 fax: 305-243-2396 Susan Estabrooks Hahn, M.S., C.G.C. , is a board certified genetic counselor who obtained her BS in biology from The George Washington University in 1991 and her MS in genetic counseling from Brandeis University in 1996. After almost 10 years at the Center of Human Genetics at Duke University, she was recruited to a faculty position at the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2007 where she is currently the Assistant Director of Communications and Compliance. Her primary research role is as project coordinator for The Genomedical Connection, an innovative project aimed at determining the best approach for translating genetic research results into clinical care.Susan has a long standing interest in genetic and research education. She and two colleagues were awarded the 2002 Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship to investigate the role, skills, and training of the genetic counselors specializing in research to improve training in this area. In addition to teaching an undergraduate course at Duke titled, Health in the Genetic Age, Susan has also contributed to a variety of educational resources and provides numerous presentations on genetics and research to professionals and community. Lastly, Susan is an active leader in the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC). She is the current chair of the Practice Guidelines Committee and a member of the practice guidelines committee of the American College of Medical Genetics. In the past, she has chaired the Research Sub-Committee and the National Society of Genetic Counselors' annual national educational conference. |
