The Miami Institute for Human Genomics receives extraordinary $20 million commitmentThe Miami Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has received an extraordinary $20 million commitment from investment fund manager and longtime institute supporter John P. Hussman, Ph.D. In recognition of the gift, the institute will be newly named the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics (HIHG). Hussman's visionary support of autism research headed by Margaret Pericak-Vance, Ph.D., director of the institute and the Dr. John T. Macdonald Professor of Human Genomics, has helped produce some of the most important discoveries in the field of autism genetics including the 2009 identification of a common risk variant for autism. John Hussman is the president and principal shareholder of Hussman Econometrics Advisors, the investment advisory firm that manages the Hussman Funds. He established the John P.
